Cuidhe Leathain B&B

Description:

Jeannette and Alan Hodson were regular visitors to the Isle of Mull for more than 25 years, before moving to their favourite place in the world and refurbishing and converting Cuidhe Leathain into a luxurious B&B. The guest sitting room and dining rooms have original Victorian fireplaces and are furnished with comfortable sofas and an interesting collection of paintings and photographs. There is a wide selection of books, CDs and DVDs and there is free WiFi access and Sky television. Information on eating out, walking, driving and things to do – from whale watching and eagle spotting to traditional music is at hand and there is a secure garden at the rear with garden furniture and BBQ. The bedrooms have large comfortable beds and a host of little extras in addition to tea and coffee (including fresh ground coffee) making facilities, chocolates, shortbread and mineral waters. The rooms have colour TV/DVDs and radios and the super-king bedroom also has a stereo CD player. Top quality bedlinen and a plentiful supply of super-soft towels ensure a relaxing stay. A wide-ranging choice of breakfast includes fresh fruit, fruit juices, cereals, fruit compote and yoghurts and porridge (made the way Jeannette was taught by her Scottish Gran Morrison). There are Loch Fynne kippers and Loch Etive smoked trout as well as local free range eggs, whichever way you want them. A full breakfast with black pudding and all the trimmings will set you up for the day. Cuidhe Leathain is also home to two Scottish Bearded collie dogs (beardies) Fergus and Mungo, and so guests can expect an especially warm welcome. We also welcome other well behaved dogs.

Location:

Cuidhe Leathain (pronounced coo-lane and roughly translated from the Gaelic as MacLean's Corner) is a traditional Highland house within the conservation area of old Tobermory. From being a fine 19th Century family home, it became a highly esteemed grocer's and draper's and subsequently the local doctor's residence. As the doctor was also the dentist and what is now the sitting room was his surgery, we can assure guests that a more relaxed welcome awaits those who come to Cuidhe Leathain today.
