Location:
Established for over 25 years as a family business, now run by the second generation daughters, The Old Forge offers a friendly informal atmosphere in a 200 year old former blacksmiths cottage situated in a quiet but central location in this charming historic Minster town within easy walking distance of all amenities including a choice of restaurants, public houses and shopping. Southwell offers several attractions including the famous Minster, The Workhouse, Heritage Trails and nearby the all weather racecourse and local golf courses. For weddings at Southwell Minster or Norwood Park, The Old Forge provides conveniently located accommodation for families and their guests. We are also suitable for delegates attending courses at Brackenhurst Agricultural College and the Horological Institute at the nearby village of Upton as well as racegoers to the local horse racing. Within easy driving distance is Sherwood Forest and its links with Robin Hood, the historic market town of Newark upon Trent, The Dukeries and Thoresby Hall and the cultural city of Nottingham. Slightly further afield is the Derbyshire Peak District and the tranquil Vale of Belvoir, both popular walking areas. Juliet looks forward to welcoming you. Southwell lies 6 miles south west of Newark upon Trent and 15 miles north east of Nottingham on the A612. The Old Forge is the pink painted house with the horses head sign located at the town centre end of Burgage Lane just before it merges with King Street. Directions are posted or emailed to all our guests as there is one way system around Southwell town centre. We have on site parking for 2/3 cars or there is free on street parking immediately outside on Burgage Lane or a free car park on The Burgage about 50 metres away.
