Location:
Welcome to our Bed and Breakfast at Castle Vale House in Berwick-upon-Tweed in north Northumberland. This delightful and secluded guest house built in the 1850s is 100 yards from the main line railway station. It has ample off-street parking and its own beautiful garden with spectacular views of the River Tweed. With its comfortable accommodation it is the perfect place to start your holiday and discover the town and surroundings by foot, cycle, car or public transport. Berwick-upon-Tweed is steeped in history; the Constable Tower which is a remnant of Berwick's thirteenth century castle stands in our grounds. The house nestles high above the river bank right next to Stephenson's famous Royal Border Bridge with its monumental 28 arches. Guests may enjoy a lazy cup of tea in their room while observing the tide come and go up the river or watching the trains crossing the bridge. Berwick-upon-Tweed town centre is only ten minutes' walk away up the steep drive from the house to the main road. Or take a twenty minute stroll down to the town using the scenic path along the riverside. This takes you through a sheltered wooded vale and nearly a hundred steps down to the river. There are numerous lovely walks only moments away by the sea, golf course or around the town walls. You can take a bus round the coast or into the Scottish Borders, or take the train to arrive in Edinburgh or Newcastle within the hour. Bring your bicycles (or borrow ours) and tfollow one of the cycling routes from Berwick (routes 1 and 68).
