Rutland: Almost a tourist free area, yet so much to see and do, the thriving Leicester, the university town of Loughborough, and the traditional English countryside, including Charnwood Forest the hunting park of the Kings. 7 miles south-west of Grantham between A52 Grantham - Nottingham and A607 Grantham - Melton Home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, the castle has a good view over the Vale of Belvoir. Kirby Muxloe Castle To north west of Leicester, off A47 Begun in 1480 by Lord Hastings, one of the first to be constructed from brick.In 1483 before completion, Lord Hastings was seized by Richard of Gloucester and executed.
