Loch Lomond: Loch Lomond presents the perfect holiday location, set amidst one of Scotland’s most idyllic and unspoilt areas with the largest expanse of fresh water in Britain and the backdrop of the mountains looming beyond. It is also ideally situated for touring within Scotland with The Highlands to the north of the Loch, the West Coast and Islands a short drive away and Central Scotland, Glasgow and Edinburgh to the east. Loch Lomond is an area close to everyone's heart. It is 23 miles long, 5 miles wide, more than 600ft deep, lies 22ft above sea level and covers 18,000 acres. The Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park became fully operational on 19 July 2002 and was officially opened by Princess Anne on 24 July 2002. The woods, mountains, lochs and coasts of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park are rich in wildlife. What you find depends on where and when you look.
