Description: Portland House, Guest House is an impressive 17th century building situated close to the border between England and Wales in the picturesque Wye Valley. We have refurbished and restored this beautiful house to an excellent standard of award winning accommodation. Portland House was converted from a private dwelling to a guest house in the 1970s. The house has a wealth of character and charm; the oldest part of the house is Georgian - not overly large but spacious enough for our guests to feel relaxed and comfortable. A warm welcome awaits you at our tastefully furnished and cosy home (grade 11 listed) situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Lovely lounge. Spacious bedrooms. Lloyd Suite, overlooking award winning garden, is accessibility rated. The Ross Suite, with views across The Doward, caters for families. The Monmouth Suite, with its gorgeous 4 poster and Victorian bathroom, awaits the romantics. The Doward Room is a twin room and prettily furnished, The Magnolia, so called as it overlooks the Magnolia tree in our forecourt is a roomy double, and The Marstow is a sweet double overlooking farmland at the rear of the house. Location: Portland House has easy access to Monmouth and Ross on Wye and only 2 miles north of the Welsh border. Either travelling north or south on the A40, turn off at the signs for Whitchurch and Symonds Yat WEST. Portland House is located between the Post Office and The Crown public house. Off street parking is available.
