Rooms - Sherwood Guest house has 2 Family en-suite rooms that can happily sleep 4 people in each, 2 en-suite double rooms, 1 en-suite twin room and 1 twin room with private bathroom. With a rollaway bed in 1 of the family rooms we can cater for up to 17 people. Parking - Sherwood Guest House has a small private car park which we operate on a 1st come basis. There is however mple free on-street parking close to the guest house. Location: From the Sherwood it is only a fifteen minute walk to Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, and Princes Street, home of the Scott Monument, and one of Scotland's premier shopping streets. We are located in the Newington area of Edinburgh which boasts numerous excellent restaurants, cafes, bars and excellent Edinburgh hotels and all other forms of accommodation, although having found the Sherwood Guest House why go elsewhere? The Sherwood was built in 1832, and is now a fully renovated 'B' listed building and retains most of the original features and character ( but with modern heating and plumbing ). In those days Newington was the "up and coming" suburb for the fairly "well to do" merchants in Edinburgh. The house was first registered to a young lady, the daughter of a tea merchant. This was a bold move for its day as women did not have equal rights or anything like it, and we do like to think we have retained that spirit of boldness with our decor and soft furnishings. We are only 7.5 miles from Roslyn Chapel whose beauty was displayed in the Da Vinci code movie.
