Description: One of the most important Georgian houses in mid-Wales, often requested as a film and TV location, Nanteos is an imposing private house with 69 rooms, set in an attractive and peaceful parkland valley location only three miles from the centre of Aberystwyth. The new owners, Shane and Carolyn Lipscombe, have embarked on an ambitious restoration and refurbishment programme that will see their home turned into one of the foremost luxury hospitality destinations of the region. For now, however, we offer you a totally informal experience of staying in an historic family house: comfortable, heated en-suite accommodation, fully licensed bar with large-screen TV, dinner (fixed-menu, by prior arrangement only), a 'guided tour' and a hearty but healthy breakfast to set you on your way. Meet the Nanteos ghosts, track down the famous Nanteos Cup, a contender for the Holy Grail of legend; be sure to visit the stunning rococo Music Room on the 1st floor! Nanteos is within a few minutes' drive of the breathtaking scenery of Devil's Bridge and the Elan Valley, and the UN Heritage Cambrian Coastline with its soaring cliffs and, to the north and south, superb sandy beaches and castles galore. Wildlife tours are available locally; also golfing, fishing and off-road sports. Aberystwyth itself is a bustling University town with excellent shopping, Harry's Bar and other restaurants, traditional pubs - many with live music - town beach, and rail link to Shrewsbury, Birmingham and London (5 hrs). The Arts Centre, the National Library of Wales, the Plascrug Leisure Centre, the town Museum and the Commodore Cinema offer a wide choice of cultural, academic, sporting and entertainment venues. Location: From the centre of Aberystwyth (bus/railway station) turn left at the mini-roundabout on to Park Avenue and continue 1 mile out to Parc y llyn (shopping park. Bear right at the second roundabout, up the hill, keeping Morrisons on your right, following signs to Cardigan A487 (coastal road). At the top, go left at the mini-roundabout on the A487 for about 300 metres and take the first road left, signposted to Devil's Bridge A4120. Turn right immediately on to the B4340 signposted to Trawscoed. After about 3/4 mile bear left at the sign to Nanteos Mansion and continue 1.3 miles to the main house. Caution: horses, walkers, badgers; restricted visibility - please observe 30/20mph limits.
